Mobile telephony IPKO has announced that starting from December 1st 2013, for the first time in Kosovo will bring the fastest speed mobile internet, latest generation of 3G network, which is a part of the entire mobile broadband solution offered by IPKO.
From the first day, IPKO will cover 80% of Kosovo population with the fastest speed 3G mobile internet, namely 43.7% of country’s territory. IPKO’s 3G network coverage will initially cover centers of the major cities and towns in Kosovo, while company’s plan for year 2014 is to expand its 3G network reach, to cover 75% of the territory and 88% of the population.
“The wait for 3G came to an end. Starting from tomorrow, IPKO will bring the fastest mobile Internet in Kosovo, and with this, IPKO will remove Kosovo from the world map of countries which still rely on 2G networks” said Robert Erzin, executive director of IPKO.
“To surge 3G adoption rate from the first day of launch, IPKO will automatically upgrade users existing mobile internet packages from 2G to 3G. Therefore, all that our users of smart mobile devices need to do is to activate 3G network in their mobile phones or tablets, and begin using the overwhelming speed offered by 3G, from their existing mobile internet packages” said Erzin.
What’s more, 3G mobile internet packages for prepaid users start from as low as 1.95 euros, while new joiners in IPKO, when buying a new SIM card , will also get 100 megabytes of 3G internet for free.
Entry package with 3G internet will be package MINI, which will provide 300 megabytes of 3G internet, for only 1.95 euros per month. The second package with 500 megabytes of 3G internet is MIDI, which will cost 3.95 euros per month, while MAXI package which offers 1GB of 3G internet will cost 4.95 euros per month. All mobile internet packages of IPKO will also receive 5GB free WiFi download.
Mobile broadband solution offered by IPKO combines networks of 3G and 3.75G in convergence with WiFi Offload, which enables the transition from classical network into a modern mobile network of 3.75G + Wifi.
With the expansion of 3G network IPKO will accomplish the year with the best results in the history of the company, as in the year of 2013, IPKO is listed as the best performer within the Telekom Slovenije Group, with 30% increase in mobile user’s base this year, 10% increase in internet and 15% increase of users of digital television.
Company’s factual based expectations are that year 2013 will be closed with great stability in revenues and EBIDTA, and significant increase of market share in the mobile market, namely from 26% to 33%, and the notable market share increase in Internet and digital television, retaining 50% of the market, in both segments.
