IPKO SUPPORTS THE PROJECTS OF 20 VILLAGE PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Today, in the international children’s day, IPKO launched its social responsibility project, supporting the applications of 20 public primary schools in various villages and municipalities of Kosovo.

For each selected school, teachers, students, and school management choose the most important project for their school, while IPKO implements it. The value of one application shall not exceed the amount of 1.000 Euros.

Applications of schools, to be implemented by IPKO, include art and science projects, books, competitions between students, purchase of electronic devices to improve teaching (laptops, projectors, microscopes), school garden improvement projects, improvement of classroom conditions (painting the classroom, purchasing curtains, carpets, renovating school spaces, etc.).

So far, in cooperation with schools and Municipal Education Departments, IPKO has implemented the projects of the following schools:

Purchase of playground toys – “Hasan Prishtina” School, Busavatë village, Kamenica
Improvement of the garden – “Shkëndija” School, Hajvali village, Prishtina
Building of the playing field – “Ramiz Cërrnica” School Gumnishtë village, Gjilan
Renovation of classrooms – “Jahë Salihu” School, Molliq village, Gjakovë
Equipping the school library with books and encyclopedias – “Dëshmorët e Kombit” School, Vraniq Village, Suharekë

By the end of 2014, IPKO will implement 15 projects of the selected schools in the municipalities of Suhareka, Gjakova, Gjilan and Prishtina.

“The overall goal of this project is to support children in rural and less developed areas, provide better conditions for children attending compulsory school, incentivize creative thinking among children and develop basic knowledge on science and society so that they do not worry about the basic education needs, and to provide an education unhindered by poverty,” said Robert Erzin, Executive Director IPKO.

IPKO is committed in continuing its initiative to support schools in rural areas, and to continue also in the coming years, to positively influence improvement of compulsory education and reduction of illiteracy. This year, IPKO will invest 20.000 Euros to support village schools projects.
